Successful West Michigan printing and book manufacturing company is seeking an experienced large format, multicolor sheetfed (Heidelberg) press operator. The ideal candidate will have over 1-3 years of experience operating and troubleshooting a multicolor sheetfed printing press.

Primary job functions:

  • Sets up and operates the multi-unit printing press to manufacture complete color book forms, inserts, and covers.
  • Verifies the quality of printed products coming off the press, such as color match, quantity, and printing defects.
  • The operator makes the last quality check before binding and finishing.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork, such as timesheets, paper transactions, etc.
  • Performs scheduled preventive and other maintenance as needed.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one to three years of offset printing press operator experience —sheetfed offset preferred.
  • Good technical and mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to read and follow job instructions.
  • Must have the ability to understand safety rules, maintenance instructions, and job information.
  • Maintain reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to lift to 50-75 lbs.
  • Be willing to work overtime during busy production cycle.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to train a press helper.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour.  Starting pay will be based on shift and job experience.

(8-hour shift with occasional overtime during busy work cycles)

Color House Graphics, a Grand Rapids printing and book manufacturing company that has been in business for over 35 years, is seeing to hire an experienced operator to set up and run our stream-fed folding machines within our bookbinding manufacturing area.

This position offers a substantial amount of upward mobility. We promote cross-training throughout the bindery on several other pieces of bindery equipment.  Additional cross-training on other bindery equipment will be offered to the right person who demonstrates good mechanical skills and a reliable work ethic.

Experience: 1-2 years of bindery experience preferred.

Education:  High school, GED or equivalent.

Experience:  Printing, bookbinding (preferred). Those with strong mechanical skills will be considered for this machine operator position.

Shift availability:  Hiring for all shifts at this time.

Our Project Managers are usually the first point of contact for our customers.

Job Summary

The Project Manager establishes, develops, and maintains strong and effective working relationships with external and internal customers. The Project Manager is a liaison between the customer, sales, and our production team. This role also serves as a technical resource and advisor to the customer for information related to active jobs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely and accurate job entry and processing purchase orders for vendor services.
  • Relay project deadlines and scheduled order ship date to customers.
  • Assist manufacturing in expediting job materials and problem-solving.
  • Address and resolve customer questions and concerns by identifying possible solutions and selecting appropriate action steps.
  • Carry out routine accounting activities and provide general administrative support for the other roles in the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience in a customer service role, preferably in the printing industry.
  • Work well with a team and independently.
  • Compassionate and warm personality
  • Positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Excellent time management skills with an aptitude for punctuality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General computer literacy (Word, Excel).
